GVPC members made a splash at the APP Sacramento Open Tournament at Johnson Ranch in Roseville this week.
Jerry Silverman and Bill Weiss won GOLD in 4.0 Men's Doubles (75+). They handily won their first three games, 15-6, 15-10. 15-5. They narrowly lost their next game 16-14, but they went on to win the finals match 11-5, 12-10, saving themselves the effort of a third game. That victory earned them a “golden ticket” to play at the USAPA Nationals Champions Tournament, which will be held at the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, AZ Nov.10-17, 2024.
Katie Carter and Bobbi Giudicelli won SILVER in 3.5 Women's Doubles (65+), winning four out of six games in the the first round, just missing gold in the final three-game match.
